In this segment I include some information and some pictures of my brother, Dick, and his family.  Dick had a long career with the U.S. Army.  After he retired he went to school on the G.I. Bill.  He became a Watchmaker and a Jewelrymaker.  He had his own store for a while.  He sold real estate and did quite well with that. He married Dona Strickland and they had three son.  The oldest son, Richard, has a son, Austin, and a daughter, Bethany.  The middle son, Freddy, is not married.  The youngest son, Carl, has been married but is divorced at the present time.  He has three daughters and one son.

The picture above is of Dick and his wife, Dona, and my son, Johnny, looking on. This picture was made at Christmas Time, 1952.

This is my brother, Dick, on his pony, Ranger. Dick was eight years old when the picture was taken.

When Dick was about four years old he had the Rickets.  His little legs were so thin and weak he could not walk.  He had been living with my paternal grandmother, Mother Hooks.  Mother Hooks contacted Granny and asked her if she could take Dick and care for him and maybe her care and  the country air would help him.  Granny said, "Of course."  So Dick came to live with Granny.  Mary and I were already with Granny. I believe this was in 1926.

Well,  Granny fed Dick good food and lots of milk.  She massaged his little legs by the hour.  And, Lo and Behold, he gradually gained strength in his legs and was able to walk. Then Mother Hooks came and took him home with her.  Granny gave her a good scolding about how to take care of him and he never had any trouble with the Rickets again.

When Dick was about twelve, Mother Hooks, became very ill. She had cancer of the liver.  So Dick came to live with Granny again. I think that was in 1934.  He stayed with Granny until 1938.  Then he went to live with Dad and Ann in Arizona.

This picture shows Carl, Dick's youngest son, Freddy, the middle son, and Richard, the oldest son.

The boys have grown up since this picture was made.  The two youngest boys  reside in Phoenix and the oldest son, Richard,  resides in Payson, Arizona.   Richard  has been the Computer Program/Maintainence Supervisor for the city of Payson for many years.  At the present time he is on disability leave due to a ruptured aneurysm.  He almost lost his life with that.  He is now 51 years  of age.

Austin, son of Richard, graduated from high School in Payson and is now attending The Art Institute in Phoenix.  He is a talented artist  and he is also a talented musician and singer.  He plays the guitar.  Richard's daughter, Bethany, is still in high school.
