Jimmy and I continued to see each other.
The families were supportative
of our relationship and accepted the fact that we were 'going together.'
In August, 2001, Jimmy asked me to marry him. I
said, "I'll think about it!" I don't think he liked my answer but
I needed to think about it. I was happy with things the way they were. I enjoyed
going to dinner, to the movies, to parties, or watching TV.
We kissed 'goodnight'and Jimmy went home. So I needed to think
seriously about such a giant step so late in life. Jimmy was 80 and I was 82. I
thought about my decision and by the month of October
I had my answer and so I said, "Yes! I will be happy to marry you!"
